SMobile VirusGuard provides anti-malware protection and supports Windows Mobile®, Symbian Series 60®, BlackBerry® and Google Android® smartphones.

Viruses and malware cause unwanted billing, damage to valuable user data, and can render smartphones unusable. VirusGuard protects mobile devices against viruses and malware delivered via Email, SMS, MMS, direct download, Bluetooth or Infrared transmission. SMobile has developed versions of this software that support all of the significant mobile platforms and is an integrated part of the SMobile Security Shield product suite. VirusGuard is a unique solution that takes into account specific challenges presented by mobile devices, such as limited device memory and limited battery capabilities. Unlike other mobile anti-virus software products, SMobile’s innovative software and services do not negatively impact device or network performance.

How it Works

To preserve network efficiency, users are prompted to select the access point for virus definition updates. Users can control the frequency of updates via a simple menu option. Virus definitions are easily downloaded over-the-air (via HTTP over GPRS, EDGE, WiFi, or UMTS connections) by all subscribed users protecting mobile devices from the latest threats.

VirusGuard secures mobile devices by scanning for malicious content on-demand and on-access. The on-access feature is continuously monitoring the device and scans all data received by the device. Once harmful content is detected, it alerts the user and offers the option to delete the data or save it. The user may also initiate a scan, using the on-demand feature.

All activity is logged in the application’s log files, recording the date and time of any scan performed, along with any virus activity detected and resolved during a scan.
